Caring for Students by Saying “Goodbye”
An 8-year old girl has tears rolling down her cheeks. In addition to teaching her English, you’ve become like a second mother to her.
A 16-year old guy laughs and makes jokes. But insides he’s said to see you go.
A 30-year old bank manager recognizes that you’ve given him the language skills he needs to make effective presentations in English.
What is this?
It’s the last day of class.
The last thing you do seems unimportant, doesn’t it? You’ve already taught the class. Students have taken the test. You’ve completed your job….almost.
Your job is almost done. Now, it’s time to say “Goodbye.” These few moments can be moments a student treasures for years to come if the goodbye is done well.
