Refreshing. Cool. Fun.

Inspiring. Surprising. Relational

What three words describe your brand of teaching?

How does knowing this help you shape your brand?

It only takes a few minutes to answer these questions, but the results could be astonishing. Here’s what to do:

Step 1: Find Three Words to Describe Your Brand

Ask a Colleague for three words that describe your brand of teaching. Say, “A friend of mine who writes a blog asked me to find a colleague who knows me well and for you to describe me and my teaching in three words. What comes to your mind?”

Step 2: Connect these words to Real Life Stories.

So you’ve got your three words: “Intelligent. Assertive. Clear.” What good does this do? Well, the answer is, “not much if that’s all you have.” But if you connect this to a story, it’s a lot.

The first time I sat down with Pedro in the Chicago suburbs, he came across as very friendly. But he was also very overwhelmed with his many English needs at multiple jobs. After determining that his greatest needs was to communicate directly with servers at a restaurant where he worked as a cook, we put together a plan to accomplish this goal. I wish you could have seen the smile on his face when he later said, “Mr. Josh, I talk to the waiters with no one helping me.”

You tell me, what’s better for my brand? To say, “I’m strategic?” Or to tell this story?

Step 3: Tell your Story

Coca cola has been around for 75 years and it’s estimated that over 5,000,000,000 have tasted coke. But their largest budget item is advertising. The reason coca cola is number is #1 is they never stop telling their story–how great coke is!

Find those three words. Connect with real life examples. And tell your story. Do you want a chance to get started on this blog? Then, add a comment below.

What are your three words?

Or even better, tell me your story.
