Over the past 28 years, more than 100,000 Lincoln certificates have been signed and awarded.
That is an extraordinary number to think about.
Since we first opened our doors in Tirana in October 1997, tens of thousands of people have come through our classrooms. Some studied English with us as children. Others came as university students, professionals, government employees, business leaders, or international residents learning Albanian. Many returned for course after course, year after year.
And today, Lincoln graduates are quite literally all over the world.
Now, as we begin our 29th year, we would like to know where you are.
A friend of mine who works for IBM in Los Angeles once told me a story that I have never forgotten. He had an Albanian colleague whose English was excellent. Curious, my friend asked him, “Where did you learn your English?”
His answer?
“The Lincoln Center.”
There he was, thousands of kilometers from Tirana, working for one of the world’s best-known technology companies in Los Angeles—and Lincoln was part of his story.
I suspect there are thousands of stories just like his.
Over the years, our students have gone on to universities, businesses, international organizations, ministries, embassies, government institutions, schools, hospitals, technology companies, and countless other workplaces in Albania and around the world.
Some have built careers here at home. Others now live throughout Europe, North America, and beyond.
We would love to hear from you.
Where Are You Now?
Did you study at Lincoln sometime during the past 28 years?
Where are you living today?
What are you doing?
What did you study with us—and did your time at Lincoln play a part in where life has taken you?
Perhaps you were one of our earliest students in the late 1990s. Perhaps you attended Lincoln as a child and now have children of your own. Maybe an English course helped prepare you for university, a new job, an international opportunity, or life in another country.
Whatever your story, we want to hear it.
Not because we want to take credit for your accomplishments. Those belong to you and to the many people who have invested in your life.
But after nearly 29 years of teaching, we would love to see where the people who once sat in Lincoln classrooms are serving, working, learning, leading, and raising their families today.
Your stories also encourage our teachers. There is something deeply rewarding about discovering where a student’s journey has led years after he or she left the classroom.
So, Lincoln graduates: Where are you now?
Send us a short note. Tell us when you studied at Lincoln, what you studied, where you are today, and what you are doing.
We may even ask permission to share some of your stories in future posts.
Write to us at stories@lincoln.org.al.
We are eager to hear from you—and to discover just how far the Lincoln family has traveled.
