Using anecdotes

I am not so enthusiastic about using anecdotes often in the classroom because students seem to be reserved and dislike sharing them with the others. I only use anecdotes when the topic of the lesson is about storytelling. I start first with an anecdote to model the task and to create a welcoming atmosphere for the students to continue with their anecdotes. Once the process has started, it’s easy to keep it going and see students enjoying the class a lot. So, the only problem is braking the ice.
